ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Raptor Trust is a non-profit organization located in Long Hill, New Jersey. At the facility, they take in injured, sick, or orphaned birds and nurse them back to health. Many of the birds are able to be released back into the wild after they heal. Those that cannot be released because of the severity of the injury or because they have become imprinted (too used to humans) while recovering, are kept at the facility as permanent residents. Visitors can walk around the grounds and see these birds all year.
The Raptor Trust is committed to educating people about wild birds native to New Jersey- in particular, birds of prey. Raptors like hawks, eagles, and owls have historically gotten a bad reputation as vicious killers and weren't protected until 1972. Representatives mainly educate children, visiting local schools to teach about birds of prey.
More information about The Raptor Trust can be found on their website.

ABOUT THE PROJECT
As a volunteer for the Raptor Trust, I will spend about 4-5 hours per week assisting the administrative staff. Tasks will likely vary each week, but may include entering data into a computer system, assisting with preparations for an event to be held in May, and assisting with social media pages, among other administrative tasks.
